Garage Door Opener Repair in Los Angeles
Opener not working? Get the door moving again.
A remote that won't respond, a motor that only hums, or a door that reverses can all point to different issues. We troubleshoot the opener and the door it operates for homeowners across Los Angeles and Orange County.

Sometimes the opener isn't the only issue.

RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM
What is your opener doing?
Tell us which of these sounds familiar. It helps separate a control issue from a door or motor problem.
Remote doesn't respond
The wall control may still work, while the handheld remote or keypad does not.
Motor hums but door won't move
You hear the opener run or strain, but the door stays in place.
Door reverses unexpectedly
It moves partway and then heads back in the other direction.
Unusual grinding or clicking
New sounds can signal wear in the opener or resistance elsewhere in the door system.
BEFORE WE ARRIVE
A few safe checks you can make.
Only check accessible controls and the clear floor area. If the door is crooked, very heavy, or partly open, stop and call.
What you can do safely
- Check whether the opener has power and whether the wall control responds.
- Try fresh batteries in the remote if the wall control works.
- Look for an obvious obstruction near the safety sensors without touching their wiring.
Do not bypass safety sensors, adjust internal electrical components, or keep cycling an opener that strains or grinds. Never pull the emergency release on an open or partially open door.
WHAT WE DO
What our opener repair covers
We work on chain-drive, belt-drive, screw-drive, and wall-mount openers from the major brands, and we check the door itself so a new part isn't fitted to hide a different problem.
Motor and drive problems
Diagnosing openers that hum, grind, run without moving the door, or stop partway, and replacing worn drive parts when that's the right fix.
Safety sensors
Realigning photo-eye sensors, repairing damaged sensor wiring, and testing the auto-reverse feature.
Remotes, keypads, and wall buttons
Troubleshooting controls that stop responding and setting up replacement remotes and keypads.
Settings or a new opener
Adjusting travel limits and force settings, or helping you choose and install a new opener when a repair doesn't make sense.
Door stuck or off track? See stuck door repairHOW REPAIR WORKS
We check the whole system, not just the motor.
An opener can seem faulty when the door itself is binding or unbalanced. Diagnosis comes before parts.
- STEP 01
Check controls, power, sensors, opener operation, and door movement.
- STEP 02
Explain whether a repair or replacement makes sense and give pricing before work begins.
- STEP 03
Complete the approved work and test the opener and safety reversal.

GOOD TO KNOW
Questions we hear often.
Why does my remote not open the garage door?
The battery or remote may be the issue, but the opener's power, settings, or the door itself could also be involved. If the wall control works, try a fresh remote battery first.
Should I keep trying if the motor hums?
No. Repeated attempts can strain the opener, particularly if the door is jammed or a spring has failed. Stop using it and have the system checked.
Do I need a new opener?
Not always. The issue may be a sensor, control, or door component rather than the motor. We inspect it before discussing repair or replacement options.
Why does my opener run but the door doesn't move?
The opener may be disconnected from the door (for example, after the emergency release was pulled), a drive part may be worn, or a broken spring may make the door too heavy to lift. Stop running the opener and have it checked.
Why does my remote only work up close?
A weak remote battery is the most common cause. An aging remote, a damaged antenna wire on the opener, or interference from nearby electronics can also reduce range. Try a fresh battery first, and call if the problem continues.
